“This is the first surgical subspecialty residency training program in Maine’s history and this accreditation comes at a time when there is a great need for our services within the state”hospital President and CE Rich Petersen said in a statement released Tuesday. Maine Med says the number of urologists retiring exceeds the number of residents available to replace them. This position will work closely with the American Association of Clinical Urologists (AACU) to ensure urology?s interests are represented at the state level. Wertman has served as the government relations specialist for the University of Virginia Medical Center; the director of public policy for the American Association of Geographers; and the associate director for public affairs for the Consortium of Social Science Associations.
